Oh Bodi I can't remember the berry colour and we haven't seen them flower yet as I only became aware of these late last season, so some suprises on the way There where both red and orange in the area I think plus Cotoneaster. I was too busy looking at trunks.
I got a chance to see all the hawthorn flowering and I haven't seen a red flower yet

We have had what seems to be a wet start, haven't talked to the farmers lately about what they think, but it never rains at the right time for them

Thanks Aaron. It is usually ther ones that you want to survive the most that cark it on you so I gota get this in a shelterd spot and forget about it for 6 months so I don't fuss over it.

Didn't know it was firethorne collection season, so you know what that means.......

From first impressions I am hoping all the branches can stay and the only carving will be for branch taper.
I am sure there is a broom form there somewhere. I will try to keep as much natural movement in these old branches as possible but it seems some will have to go.
Before I collected this guy I was wondering if it is a necessity to keep foliage on a branch for it to survive. I think not but evergreens are a new card game for me. I left at least some foliage on where possible to get it in the frontera. I will take the trailer next time.

All you people with big trees need an hydraulic trolley to move things around; plus plenty of paving for it too run on and an army of helpers. Tree is not mine but the trolley and backyard are.

It has been a good recovery KC. I was talking about this tree with Don and discussing how I usually like to get rid of most of the old soil/clay as it makes monitoring the watering easier as there is not a contrast from the old clay soil to the new soil. I would say that Don and this tree have convinced me it can be well worth the trouble of monitering the dampness of a clay root ball with a better recovery rate.
Although the other Firethorns wich where mostly bare rooted have done great as well. (except one is now down to one live leaf left and been this way for almost a month )
The other thing I have been doing diferently is leave any weeds growing in the pot of a tree that is recovering to help the soil dry up faster. I only just removed them the other day from this one.
