Just becareful with osmocote when feeding things like Azaleas or any othe plant with surface roots as osmocote can easily burn the roots and some plants will not recover from being overfeed/root burn.

Osmo usually lasts much longer than the nominated time. A 6 month osmocote product will release about 80% of the contents at a constant temperature of 21C. In practice, a 6 month osmo will last you a year without need to add more in average weather (in southern vic) Very high temps will release more. Sometimes a lot more! Therefore, you need to water very thoroughly during these times to leach excess salts.

I find it lasts a much shorter time! Maybe because of higher temps or more watering. The release is not even, there is a short burst that rapidly diminishes over time. The key is to observe your trees, they will tell you what they need. Of course limiting N is a key way to reduce leaf size, but if you are on top of those techniques you probably won't be reading this.
