I have one of these that was growing in my gutter and I potted it up just because. A recent ID request on this forum shows mine to be a Celtis chinesis too.
It is not growing much either Mel, and seems quite vulnerable to pests. I don't yet have it in full sun, though, so that may be a factor.
I will watch yours with interest.

The grasshoppers sure do love it, Sonya! Thing is, I have a number of others, all doing much better. I suspect they thrive on neglect....lol!
I dug some up down on the creek behind my place....there are whole thickets of them!

I love it when you can collect bonsai and do the environment a favour at the same time

I have to withdraw this one. I broke the top off it when I tried to bend it, now it's just a stick with a dead top.

yeah, sure does.
Still, the remaining stick might enjoy having some time without me messing around with it... Hoping it'll go back to thriving on neglect, and produce some new buds.... Fingers crossed, anyway.
