I have one of these that was growing in my gutter and I potted it up just because. A recent ID request on this forum shows mine to be a Celtis chinesis too.
It is not growing much either Mel, and seems quite vulnerable to pests. I don't yet have it in full sun, though, so that may be a factor.
I will watch yours with interest.

The grasshoppers sure do love it, Sonya! Thing is, I have a number of others, all doing much better. I suspect they thrive on neglect....lol!

I dug some up down on the creek behind my place....there are whole thickets of them!

I love it when you can collect bonsai and do the environment a favour at the same time ;)

I have to withdraw this one. I broke the top off it when I tried to bend it, now it's just a stick with a dead top. :(

yeah, sure does. :palm:

Still, the remaining stick might enjoy having some time without me messing around with it... Hoping it'll go back to thriving on neglect, and produce some new buds.... Fingers crossed, anyway.
