They do and it will. The reason I said the green line was there was some growth and I assume you want this to grow and gain some trunk thickness. You may end up cutting lower down the track, but this will give you a head start on growth and trunk thickening. If you cut at the green keep the upper shoots trimmed and let the lower ones grow strong. It will give you shrubby growth that you can then sculpt a trunkline from. No point cutting low unless you have a thick trunk and want to create the next section of trunk. Often when starting out in bonsai we over work our trees and do not allow for growth that leads to better bonsai. More growth = better bonsai quicker. Something I am only recently understanding.
