A long time ago I used to work at a Sewerage treatment plant, and the by products of the treatment process were used for Fertilizing plantation timber and turf farms in the western Sydney areas.

The treated water was pumped to Richmond Golf club for watering the fairways and greens, and the sludge that settles out in the treatment process was scraped off the bottom of the tank and dried. Then used as a solid fertilise sprinkled onto the turf farms.
It was illegal to use it for food production crops due to the heavy metal content mainly.

I think it was also frowned upon to use on products or crops that would be in close contact with people soon after application,

I used to work at a huge nuclear facility in South Africa. The waste treatment plant sold bags of treated human waste. I only used it once as it gave off the most nauseating and vulgar smell when it was wet. My neighbours gave me heaps :palm:
We ate out for almost two weeks..... :tu:

I thought we were talking about urine, not poop. Using human poop is revolting.

why more so than Chook or Cow poop?
Yep it smells, ( but so does the above), Yep it comes from Carnivores rather than herbivores, but that only changes the consistency rather than the smell
Many people have to deal with it in everyday life and when one gets acclimatised to it, it is not any worse than many other waste products.

Many places in the world use it as a resource and why not.
Bill Gates even drinks it :-)

Omnivores Ken ;-)

I have worked with pigs for 4 years who are also omnivores, people complain about the smell but none of us even notice it. It's true when you're around it every day you stop smelling it.

Btw, I've seen plenty of people saying pig poop is no good for plants, but my vege garden disagrees! Just gotta let it mature for a year ;-)

Yep, that's the one. Herbivore eats only plants, carnivore eats only meat and us lucky omnivores get the best of both worlds :-D

With the amount of coffee I drink, I'm not sure my pee would be safe for my plants.

Interesting topic. I've never tried any of the above, so I can't disagree or agree. In general, my view is that there is enough good liquid and solid fertilisers in the shops that I do not have to find an alternative.

Having said this, I have heard of both being used. Urine for pot plants. I guess it can be used for bonsai also. Human waste is used in our area a lot. The sewage works sell it. The principle many farms use is to leave it in large piles on the farms for at least 6 months and then use it. By this point it does not smell as strong and also any bacteria is apparently dead. So it is definitely used and apparently with great results. Especially for certain species. But it is used by farmers. Domestic use is compost or manure. Many farms in my area which produce compost and supply manure, so no need to take a trip to the sewage works. I can't imagine putting it anywhere close to my trees.

Anyway, I'm still going to go down to the local bonsai nursery and pick up some fertilizer off the shelf. :D
