Just a query about my trident forest guys.

All trees have burst their buds and grown on but one small one, in the middle, has started look ill! It's leaves have slightly yellowed and now they're drooping. I don't get it because the rest look completely healthy??

Any ideas on how to rescue before it's too late? Unless it is too late.

Maybe not the answer you wanted but if it was me I would whip it out and replace it when no one was looking

I would only say bad luck but I am sure there is a better answer. I am not sure how much root pruning you did or how it was done but I think a small fatality amount is expected with this sought of work. Maybe that tree was treated a little harsher than the others and it did not survive the after care. I would not be suprised if one or two of my forrest did not survive but I don't have any confirmed deaths yet

Yeah I still don't know. Melaquin reckons that anything below 12(I think) is a group, but Craig Coussins definately doesn't make that distinction in a book I have of his, so I'm confused???

i like it, .. trees sometimes die (with me frequently ) I'd leave it now till next year, and look at the group over the year, also if you so desire, look for more trees, different pot etc, look at other groups (Miagiman? Has a maple group/forest to die for ) also look to see as many groups as you can, study them, and think about how you could/would apply principles to your group. then next year, try again (If you are so inclined) in bonsai, you never stop learning, and your trees are never finished.

As far as placement in the pot, different people have different ideas, and there is no right or wrong, as long as YOU like it.


This is from someone who's been told that most of her trees are only fit for garden shrubs so take it all with a grain of salt
