I am not sure how many I own, some natives. But I reckon it is around 20, maybe a few more.
I only use rain water (I have a 5,000 litre rain water tank) our tap water is alkaline. I suppose being single with an elder son, who does the heavy work, and I am retired, I spend many hours a week with my plants, mainly because I am studying Hort IV just on bonsai. Being credited with previous units passed including a diploma in organic agriculture. It's on line too. Lucky I did some graduate units at UNE before tackling this on line. So I spend about 30 hours a week researching and practical exercises to do with all forms of bonsai propagation. Some I haven't attempted before.
My eldest son told me he was getting worried about me, when I talk to some of them. If it's good enough for Prince Charles it's good enough for me too.
If you enjoy it, then do it. But when playing golf, I would keep my eye on the ball, not the trees in the rough. LOL. Does anyone else do this. I look at trees in a different light now than I used too. Looking at the shape and trying to work out their species, and if they could make a good cutting etc.

) but lately I find myself noticing the natural branch structure on some of the deciduous trees around here and working out if that's good ramification or not
