Hi
If it were mine I would keep the top, remove the middle branches and it will make a lovely literati :2c: :imo:
My reasoning would be mainly impatience... And I love that long sweeping trunk line, it makes my eyes want to follow it
Good luck!

Hi Raymond,
I would probably put it in a poly box. Why? 'Cause I like to be able to move them around as weather moves around ie the need for sunshine, and gives you a chance to have a good look at the different styles that sometimes rattle through your head-- works for me. Mate see how you go there's plenty of good advise here.
Cheers Rod

Hi Raymond,
Thanks Ray M. If it was yours, would you use a large foam box or put it in the garden bed?
At this stage of development it wouldn't really matter. I don't know if you are looking to develop a larger diameter trunk. If so in the ground would be a good method. If not just pot it in a foam box and get it back to good health.

Regards Ray

What I would try-----pick a new leader 2\3 from top then jin the old top --use a couple of trunk benders to practice your literati skills--jin the lower branches--slip into a larger pot -place in a warm spot

Took a punt on the weekend and slip potted this into a larger pot. Used a mix of bonsai soil(I buy it from Bonsai Emporium), pine bark mulch and some pulverised sheep manure. Submerged in Seasol prior to and after repotting. Put some lucern hay on top for to help create some warmth :fc: :fc:
