Thanks Watto, appreciate the comments. It wasn't much to look at when I bought but had good bark so I figure the outlay ($1.50) was worth the risk  I try to photo my trees as much as possible cause I tend to forget where it comes from or what has happened to it to get to a certain stage. I think the colour of the rock suits it to. Now I just have to keep it alive. :?

Fantastic composition and techniques Josh! Looks great, and I look forward to seeing it progress further. Great for only a year's prep.

Hi Josh,
Just had a bit of fun with your setting. :) :) Moved the tree down the hill a bit and added an accent plant.

Hey Ray, thanks for that. I like what you've done, gives it a natural feel. Something to think about when I'm doing rocks-not to just go central or on top. :tu: :tu:

Thanks

G'Day Josh,
I'm new to this forum and am in the process of going through a lot of stuff I've never seen before.
Congrats on this one, it's a great little tree as is it's rock. At the beginning of this posting there was a lot of conjecture as to whether you could keep the little fella alive.
How does it look as of this point in time.
Cheers......Brian

Thanks Brian. This tree has powered on. It suffered a broken broken branch due to stupidity :palm: but has a new bud in the same spot so time will replace it. It is growing fast and needs continued pruning. I'm away at the moment but will take a photo and update when I get home. :tu:

Here's the tree as of today.

As you can see it is going strong. Started off sitting on a bed of sand in a tray but decided it needed to toughen up so sits on the bench with everything else.

Thought I should update this tree, it's been a while. Well I'm happy to say it has grown happily in this rock with no issues. Taken to pruning really well and handled drying out on numerous occasions with no ill effect. It's a bit ratty as I lett it grow out to maintain health but happy with its progression.
