Thanks for that Pup, from the photo's I have seen of it, each time the deadwood appears to be almost too perfect for it. I wonder if there is a plan in place for some additional colouring and texture for that area at some stage down the track.

Cheers

Grant led a team of volunteers to repot the trident maple today. Kenn and Wayne were helping with Mike doing a great job with his new camera.

We were able to raise the tree in the pot and show off about another 2 inches of the width of the base of the tree.

It is going to be an absolute little ripper this tree..

Amazing tree. You don't often see maples in such a masculine pot but with the girth and taper of this monster it looks great!

Wow, looks like something out of a Tim Burton movie set. Beautiful. Amazing how much work must have gone into this to get it to this stage, that looks so strong and gnarly, great tree. Lynn is a very nice person and I've bought stock from her over the years, ... she must be very proud of what you've done. :tu:

Here is a picture of the Centenary Prize tree as it is now. The foliage has been bought down and around in front of the bare wood to form a 'skirt'.

Here is a picture of how it looked last year when it won the prize.

Why change a winning tree so much?

Agreed Ken, The right side has some nice vertical structure to it, however currently the left looks like its been pulled down - which I assume will need some time to grow out the vertical structure more and create more balance...

The original photo looks to be taken at a slightly lower position to the last? If the current styling was taken at the same lower angle maybe the trunk line would be marginally more visible... I like the new direction, compact, layered and adds a sense of age.

I think I like the new direction but the foliage needs to be repositioned, it looks a mess at the moment.
