There arent any going east from here, I am taking a medium size Melaleuca with me when I go to Canberra. There is room for a couple of small ones :!: in the box,
but they cant come back so it is cash up front.
If you want one.

Cheers Pup

Spent yesterday helping with the setup...It is amazing how many quality trees are on display! Actually, some really good ones where withdrawn due to lack of space even though we are in a large hall. Both Bonsai Clubs, as well as the organising commitee are to be commended. Guys...get down there if you can, and help us help the LIFELINE group, as depression and anxiety are no laughing matter....Dog.

And this irregular drop in will be there, probably Sunday arvo. Nice to be both in town and not otherwise engaged for once.

Absolutely loved it, though I had hoped for more on offer in the sale area.

Unfortunately I came today with my wife, 4 and 2 year old.....so it was hard to take my time and enjoy it.

I'll be back tomorrow by myself! The shohin/mame display was particularly impressive!

I came at about 11:30 and there were only a couple of trees, apart from Bonsai Emporium's table. There were several pots/stands which was great, though I didn't find a the pot I was looking for.

Tomorrow I'll be there later...like 2pm. Hope to run into a few of you there!

Well, I headed back to the WA show, sans toddlers, and it was a considerably more enriching experience! :D

The show was really terrific. This was the first bonsai show I've ever been to and I was truly inspired! My wife asked me what I thought after experiencing it and I said:
a. Realized how much farther I have to go! very humbled
b. inspired to strive for the goal of developing some truly beautiful, mature bonsai.
c. Added about 10 species to my wish list of trees to add to my shelves! :)

One thing that interested me, was that there were tons of what I would consider to be large to very large trees and a respectable number of Shohin/Mame, but didn't seem to me much in between. That's not a criticism, just found it interesting that most of what I saw was either MUCH bigger than my trees, or much smaller. I thought my new olive was HUGE, but it would have fit right in (size wise) at the show.

Was really great to meet some members of WABS including Pup! I hope to become a member soon.

Here are three terrible pics taken by a non-photographer with his phone...Hopefully, someone else will provide some better eye candy in the coming days....

Image
This was probably my favourite display....a swampy looking Mal overhanging an imaginary pond/swamp complete with lily pad and bird...don't know how well you can see them lower right?

Image
Beautiful Babingtonia!

Image
Showy Shohin! Loved all of the shohin and Mame on display....dare I try to go that small!?

Thanks to all who put on a terrific weekend....next year I hope to be able to set aside more time for some of the workshop/lectues!

Will upload my pics as soon as I get my laptop back :( Was meant to take photos of the ones that caught my eye... but in the end they all pretty much did, so I've got a photo of most of them

I absolutely loved it! Was there on saturday just after 9 which is when a lot of the decent trees were sold, managed to pick up a nice Sabre Ficus and Bougy myself :)

The display was amazing! Spent about 6hrs there in total, looking at the trees, watching the demos (spewing to have missed yours Pup!) and convincing myself that I needed to have just one more tree/pot. It was a really great set up, with some really inspirational trees, plus the members of the two clubs were scattered around chatting to everyone about anything.

Was really suprised with the turn out too!

Edit: Should also say, the best thing that came from the day (other then seeing those amazing bonsai) would be opening my dad's eyes to bougy's as bonsai. He's now agreed to let me dig the massive bougy in his backyard! We started on it when we got home from the show :P

Got there. Saw the azalea demo - which was most worthwhile as I've not played with them at all. Also learnt about willow water

Willow water looks like pretty interesting stuff. Since I don't have a willow, maybe I'll put an aspirin tablet in my next liquid fertilizer mix. I was aware of the medical history and origin of aspirin, but haven't ever heard of it being useful for plants. I'll have to do the math to make sure I'm not giving a toxic overdose, but it seems like it's worth trying. And certainly cheaper than Superthrive.
Cheers, Karl
