Just a lazy 34.5 here, being in the mountains it will get down to below 20 tonight which is perfect weather for sitting in the pool and drinking an Asahi or 3 and getting a comfortable night's sleep

only got to about 32 or so here
Was noice in the pool

We had a cool change it only got to 37 but it was bloody humid, so I have reqested some flippers from the local camping store.

Tomorrow back to 40 that is 3 weeks now, getting a bit worn out by it, but it is good ale weather.

And it's difficult to water in the middle of the day with the risk of burning the leaves...

Well I got ack from being away to find all my plants except the willows in perfect health. The girls did well. 2 willows in smaller spots are a bit brown. They'll reshoot so not a problem. Very happy. Now I have to keep them alive.

Unless your water is very salty, then you should not use it all, or you are using fertiliser in it.

It is a fallacy I water in the midday sun and have had no leaf burn from it. Have done all my Bonsai life of 25+ years.

Thanks Pup!! I just haven't done it because I was fearful of burning them... but now you have eased my fears! It is just standard Sydney tap water,
so not sure if the chems in there make a difference... ?

After last weeks day of 45 degrees, I decided I should probably pull my finger out and put up my shade cloth.

I didnt get home until late on Thursday night and had to be up early so thought I would be able to skimp on watering and just do it the next morning. Well my Japanese maples now all have some degree of leaf burn some more severe than others, but my tridents are fine. Goes to show I should not be lazy and get out there and water regardless what time I get home

Boom! Thanks DENAz! I was out there today in the midday heat watering away! I feel so... liberated!

Only got to 42 here today a little bit less than what they predicted Now I know what Mr and Mrs Pup are putting up with over there in the west, but they didn`t have to send it over here.

Down here in wagga its been late 39c. And mid 40s all last week and this week and still another week of it.
I have only lost one small tree. I think I have been very lucky.
90% of my trees. Are full sun.

I just need to water evey night.

All my 3 year old natives are in the sun all day. No shade,watered automaticly at 6am to 6.30am every other day.bit wilted but still going. My native cuttings that are 6 months old are doing it hard, and Thay are in some shade in the arvo. Bloody hot same as wagga.

So how did your trees all go in todays heat?
As most prabably know, I have all my trees potted in Diatomite / Zeolite mix exclusively, and are very happy with it's performance in every aspect. Many people still think that because my pots have no organics, that they must dry out far too quickly for Australia and our summer heat.

Today in my backyard the thermometer got to 42 deg and this was the southern side of the house and in the shade, so possibly a little cooler than the benches in the sun.
I leave for work at 6:30 am and arrive home at about 7 pm, so for most of my trees, watering during the day is impossible. Although I do have Automtic watering system that covers most of my trees, there is about 5 Monkey poles and 1 bench that i have to water by hand every day before work. The main growing areas and benches are watered by automatic Sprinkler system that comes on for 5 minutes at around 7am each day.

One String comes on again at 2:30 in the afternoon, to do my Nursery area / Shohin Growing benches, and a few of my bonsai on Monkey poles.

Happy to say that when I got home tonight, None of my trees looked like being stressed at all and in need of a drink, but they all got a hand watering anyway.

How did you and your trees cope today?
