No. Surprisingly, even though the Top End of Australia is closest to the equator, the humidity of the Northern Territory (which is a territory, not a state) keeps the actual mean temperatures down.
The hottest state is Western Australia. The world heat record goes to Marble Bar in Western Australia, which recorded maximum temperatures equalling or exceeding 37.8°C on 161 consecutive days, between 30 October 1923 and 7 April 1924.

Cheers Ken mate, I don't even mind paying the freight, Let me know how much it'll set me back per bucket(plus freight) and we'll organise it.Yes It(akadama) can dry out quickly , so you'd need to find the right combination of the other mediums going in to allow for dry/hot days/weeks.
It doesn't even matter what mix you use, as long as it drains fairly well and doesn't stay WET for too long, it'll prob work ok. But If new mediums are not at least tried then you'll not know if your trees could grow Better.
