Any comments on my method? Would love to do the others tomorrow.

The only mel I have had survive root pruning went into a very free draining mix and then the pot was sat in a saucer of water. It is thriving - not sure it wouldn't be a little cold to do them now though ?

Dansai,, i'd of prefered to see you chop the trunk and wait for a while until the tree has put out new foliage and hardened off before repotting and rootpruning. Maybe built up some branching down low by keeping the top trimmed back quite hard, so that when it was chopped it already had foliage to kick it along.
Should be right though mate, keep the soil moist and wait for the action, prob take at least 3 weeks before anything starts to happen.
I like to try different methods on trees that are of the same species to find what works best, so maybe try 1 or 2 different to this one.

No idea on lepto's as I don't grow any yet. take care mate

G,day I have read your post here with interest, I have little experience with M,quinquenervia. The one I have was struck from a cutting 3 years or so ago using pure Carnarvon river gravel( Aquarium sand) and water. Today I decided to pot it up in to conventional soil and pot.

The foliage reduces quite well if you take out the big leaves and leave the small shoots, as with a lot of our natives.
I do have pictures if you want to see them ?I will post them.

The one Leptospermum I have shoots back on old wood very readily it is L, brachyandrum.
