I must say that I like it but I would like to see the branches and foliage on the right reduced from the bottom by about half. I feel it would give the tree more dynamic movement. Anyone wanna do a virt? :fc:

Well I'll just cover that section with my fingers to see what it looks like. I hope no one is offended by this.

I'm of a similar opinion to Jarrod on this one. I first viewed this tree on his site a couple of years ago and like Jarrod, I think it looks quite sparse.
Yes, Viminalis is a weeper and this characteristic has been alittle over-emphasized IMO. I would prefer it if some of the length was taken out of those branches (being a hairdresser anttal63 you surely can sympathise  ) and instead have more dense foliage filling it in. All this aside though it is an interesting take on Callistemon as bonsai.
Having said this, I think one of the nicest around is in the National Collection...I may be alittle biased being a West Aussie though!
I think the best is Ernie Kuo's. I couldn't find a decent photo of it to post...maybe someone can help...it's a real cracker.

Cheers!

I love it,
the weeping aspect is exaggerated (old trees do that)
bald (old people do that)
The tree is a little unusual in the way it is styled but better than trying to make a young callistemon look like a young callistemon and calling it "natural style".
Longer branches are the price paid for allowing the tree to flower and a real treat for those who don't get to see them flower in the wild or in the garden. I am sure it is a showstopper in South America.
I wonder if Nacho Marin has seen callistemons in the wild.
He should be congratulated, making us think about one of our own!
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

Its a beautiful tree and definitely deserves the awards it was given. i would love to congratulate Nacho for his wonderful tree. you can see why it won the award, because its a show stopper. if you saw this tree at an exhibition you would be immediately drawn to it again and again. as we can see here, it has drawn lots of attention on this site alone. If a tree creates a reaction in its audience, it is a very good tree. after all, art is all about connecting with its audience and this tree seems to just that :tu:

Hmm if you cut back behind the seed pods the branches will be shorter, and will flower profusely as Callistemons flower on new wood. i have noticed while a lot of the branches go up then weep which is natural in weeping trees.

For the most part they are doing this as nacho has wired them this way. there are however some that come off the trunk and go straight down.

As hugh has said you are drawn to this tree again and again, so you look harder each time, then you find the Hmms.

No disrespect to me hack, Nacho is a big fella muscle's on muscles, so im sure his broad shoulders can hold your virt up. I like your concept, i think its very complimenting to the direction of the trunk and therefor tells a different story. Me however there is no way on earth i would lose the bottom 2 branches, that is the tree for me!!! The one thing that has got me pissed is your pic is too small Hack and i cant have a decent gander... :shake:  :palm:

When you saved as you should have as a jpg instead of png...i think. The fact that its 8kb that is a very small file. Or when you saved the tree to yuor comp the 1st time you saved the thumbnail . Always open the pic then save it :tu: :palm: Craigs pic cant be opened
