Hi Ken and all,
BBTH is an all dancing all singing event and really not an exhibition as such , there is no "general entry" but you can sign up for just the day either Saturday or Sunday. It is a multi attraction event so you can drift from one presener to the others or stay with one if you like. There is workshops, plant and pot sales, raffles.
We need to know numbers to plan catering - morning &afternoon tea & lunch is in the deal.

....and I'm booked in for a three-hour demo Saturday morning!
I'll be making a leaf-pot (otherwise known as a 'cowpat-pot'
), a round, distressed pot ('cracked-pot' to Bretts), and an oval pot. No 'secrets', but lots of techniques that work for me.
Looking forward to meeting some fellow potters!
Cheers, Pat

Re: Bonsai By The Harbour
Its a fine sunny day and all the great bonsai folk from Sydney and surround are out by the Harbour.
This morning Hartos jnr was entranced by the potting skills of Pat Kennedy.
He sat still and asked all the questions, thanks Pat for your patience. You might have started a real interest there! Im sure there will be more bonsai related photos later today.
Gotta go, or Ill be late for the next topic.

Re: Bonsai By The Harbour
Hi all,
BBTH was great today with a number of topics covered by a variety of artists.
The all day demo by Andrew and assistant was great. He carved, shaped, styled and potted an amazing semi cascading privett and then in the afternoon did a Juniper with live veins with some bending involved as well.
I hope we see more from andrew in the future.
As usual the relaxed style of the BBTH was great as well.

Re: Bonsai By The Harbour
Not only was Pat potting but there lots of trades on pots, books, aprons and bonsais; many bonsais changed hands on the weekend and some in black pots were enormous. Newcomer, big fella, "Edge" did a great jog on his privet with a bit of carving as well. There were some great prizes for the raffle and the man who made a big setting on Saturday won the Vietnamese style setting
There was lots of action down at Gladesville and many trades on bonsai, books, aprons and pots; Pat wasn't the only potter and many bonsais changed hands as well on the trade table, including some huge stock in black pots. Newcomer, big fella "Edge" did a tremendous job on his privet with a bit of carving as well. In the raffle the most interest was in the setting put together two years ago by Lin. The only dampener was that at the end when cars had to be loaded, the heavens opened up and people got drenched carrying their purchases to their cars.
Will I look at Wiki tonight?

Re: Bonsai By The Harbour
What an enjoyable, relaxed weekend we had.
The company was great, the food (and wine) was exceptional and I don't often get to park my 'cave' on the harbour foreshore! Thanks go to Garry, Jan, Ric, and the band of willing workers who made it all happen.
Young Will 'Hartos' was a delight and so refreshing to have a young lad confident enough to ask the questions he needed answers to...thanks Will
If you didn't get there, try for next year...I'm sure you won't be disappointed!!
Cheers, Pat
ps I finally got to meet Bretts!!!

Re: Bonsai By The Harbour
Seeing as Pat dropped in to say hi
He will be my next addition
Pat did a Demo on Saturday morning and had a crowd entertained and enthralled with his mud magic for about 3 hours
I am not a potter, but love to see a craftsman do his stuff
here are some of the photos of hime doing said stuff for you to enjoy, but I will try not to let all his secrets out

He started out by making the mould for one of his "Cow Pat" pots, and then swapped to the wheel and made a round "Cracked Pot". Next up, was an Oval one just to show off,
but really though they are similar, they are quite different construction methods.
After his mould was dry, he then finished up with completing an example of his Pat pot.
What a great demo thanks Pat
If you ever get to see Pat K do a Demo, then do not hesitate to grab a seat for a few hours, 'cos it is well worth it. Pat is generous with his time and knowledge, and
is a top bloke to boot
ps, Pat if you do fire those pots you made on the weekend, then I will have one
Ken

Great demo, Pat.
That was a lot of time and effort you put in to present it.
Do they know just how much more work went into getting everything organized? Did you cart your wheel all the way up too?
Penny.
