Has anyone sent in photos for the photo display at the exhibition yet
Its a great chance for those who grow natives but are too far away to display a tree
Most years there has only been a handful of photo entries and I think we could do so much better.
Come on native bonsai growers. Don't just leave it to the Canberrans and a few from NSW. Lets see what your Aussie bonsai look like too.

Reminder has gone out. Only a short time to get entries in time for the show team to produce the catalogue so please get entries in SOON.
Any Ausbonsai members submitted photo entries yet? it would be great to see more than 3 or 4 photos on the wall this year. see
http://www.cbs.org.au for entry details

Tried to convince myself not to be so precious but I think I have timed some hard pruning a bit out this year. I will have a good look at the trees tomorrow and see if I can tart a couple up.
Thanks for the heads up Shibui

Hi all
Been off the air for a while - so here's an update on the exhibition and symposium ...
We have closed off tree nominations for the exhibition and have started the formatting of the catalogue.
With respect to the symposium, we are still taking registrations although it should be noted that the 2nd Ray Nesci workshop on the Saturday is full. There are a couple of places available in the 1st workshop - a one hour design session with Ray. There are also still spots available in Grant's 'introduction to natives as bonsai' workshop.
If you are still 'umming' and 'aaring' about the symposium, visit the CBS web site (
http://www.cbs.org.au ) and click the 'Native Show' button on the left of the home page to check out the details.
For those of you already registered, looking forward to meeting you - or seeing you again ... and it may have stopped raining by then too !
Cheers,
Mike.

I went to the exhibition today, and in my opinion the quality was the best I have seen at this show. Very impressive native trees, almost inspired me to grow a couple of natives myself!!!
A couple of photos of my personal favourites, but I am sure that the organisers will post real ones after tomorrow.

Thanks for these Watto, I too like your favorite, It is a bracteata golden gem bunjingi.
I have one very similar to it, so its probably from a little bias on my part

. It is serious need of a trim which it will get to day.
Regards Pup

A nice compilation of Australian trees as bonsai, oh, did I win the raffle?
While I was in a different state, I checked out the National Collection aswell and just made it by 15mins, the volunteers were happy to have a chat about bonsai aswell.

They are very similar gold and revolution, I have both in my collection and only the new growth seperates them. Having said that, these were both nursery stock
So they could have been named to suit the market.
Still like them, and yes so do I like the next one also. Again thank you for posting.
Cheers Pup

I really like the first tree (water gum??).
Do many people grow these? If so how do they go? They obviously ramify well but how do they handle re-potting, hard pruning, scar healing etc?
Joe.
