This is kinda sad considering how infectious your enthusiasm is for noobs like myself. KUTGW Alp.
Was thinking the same thing. Alpine your work has inspired me to try different things with bonsai (some good some not so good

) so please keep the inspiration going.
Josh.

Hi Guys , inspiration has ebbs and flows as does life . Once I start getting into re-potting the trainers and digging things out of the grow beds it might change , just a bit overwhelmed by all the tasks i have tackled lately . I have missed a lot of meetings lately that should have been attended for various clubs i belong too , sometimes i just don't know what day of the week it is .
Cheers . Alpine

Just saw on ebay someone looking to sell a dead bonsai tree for $95. It's been dead for 2 years. Had to do a double take.

Hi Guys , I didn't go anywhere just never bothered with the Bonsai caper . Had a little bit of a work out today , rotary hoeing the new terraces , digging in new compost and lifting Chinese Elms and Black Cherries ready for root pruning .
Tomorrow will see me back on the rocks maybe , between digging and sorting the neglected material out before Spring hits .
Cheers Alpine

Well this is it , let the dig begin . I only managed to dig 2 Trident Maples today , these 2 new examples
P1090578.JPG
P1090579.JPG
were put together last year with left over excess whips , wired then left to run riot . The wire didnt hold as expected but 90% fusing has taken place .
I have re-tied the trunk in the area's required
P1090580.JPG
P1090581.JPG
and its back to the new grow bed . Hopefully tomorrow I will have a few more normal trunks dug and treated with the upmost care

.

Looking good there Alpine. You'll be pulling some nice trees out of there. You have inspired me to start putting trees in the ground. Look out back/front yard.

Well all the hard work is done on these buggers . The rotary hoe had had a good workout , so have I

. These were root pruned and planted back into the fresh beds for another season . Now its into the front beds and with a bit of luck they should be finished in a day or two .

This is the end of the Trident work for this year ,
P1090686.JPG
plenty of varieties for the future . With the Crab Apples moved to a new grow bed these single trunks took over residency of 1 of the new grow beds
P1090688.JPG
. These were prepared yesterday
P1090689.JPG
P1090692.JPG
and have now been filled with single trunks
P1090687.JPG
, clump style
P1090694.JPG
P1090702.JPG
and and last but not least the fused trunks
P1090693.JPG
P1090706.JPG
P1090707.JPG
All tucked in ,
P1090708.JPG
I managed to squeeze a dozen Corky Bark Oaks into this bed
P1090698.JPG
, now where the mulcher to begin the clean up as promised . The new beds are smaller as i have boxed the edges in readiness for stage 2 of the rock laying process . Looks cleaner just need to pick up all the rubbish and tools then the Cook should be a happy camper .

These are just beginning to take off , some are well ahead of the others be it ground material

P1100076.JPG
P1100078.JPG
P1100079.JPG
P1100080.JPG
P1100081.JPG
, These layered off trunks were severed in Winter
P1100072.JPG
P1100073.JPG
the bonsai potted tree had a good root mass the plastic potted tree had only calloused up , its lagging behind however it is just begining to roll out the leaves .The sacrafice branch layers set mid growing season only calloused up and are in the grow beds , they too are just begginning to leaf out .Some of these ground trunks will be wired and pre styled in the ground as was the 2 big layers .

Plenty of growth happening and now the trimming begins .
P1100342.JPG
P1100343.JPG
P1100344.JPG
All the fusing trunks will be allowed to rage on reguardless of their height . The single trunks and groups have or will get a cut back to the first or second node several times the way they are growing . The bigger trunks will have the sacrafice apexes left to run riot while building the branch structure during the season .
P1100349.JPG
P1100350.JPG
P1100354.JPG
P1100355.JPG
.More than happy with the development , a few flaws but every faults a feature

They're growing too well - they look like a vege patch!
