Latest welcome addition to the NBPCA.

Post by NBPCA »

Hi Everyone,

I would like to announce the latest addition to the National Bonsai and Pening Collection of Australia.

We have some wonderful trees on display but it is not a new bonsai or penjing.

We are building up a collection of other items but it is not an addition to the collection of an item as such.

We have a magnificent volunteer base with lots of collective experience but it is not that.

The latest addition to the NBPCA is the appointment of Leigh Taafe as Assistant Interim Curator. Leigh is well known to the members of this website and bonsai practitioners in Canberra and brings his experience to this new position at the NBPCA. It is a part time position and short term contract to start with but I hope it becomes permanent in the not too distant future as the collection grows and moves to its new permanent location in the Canberra Arboretum in a few years time..

I would like to extend my congratulations to Leigh at the appointment and look forward to working with him.

Thanks all,

I am looking forward to getting started. Grant is a great guy to hang around, he has knowledge oozing from him when it comes to bonsai! There are some great volunteers at the collection also, most of which I reckon I can call "mates".

Hopefully I will be able to catch up with a few more of the ausbonsai members as they visit the collection.

Cheers,
Leigh.

Thanks to all. Yes, it will be good to meet more of you when you visit the collection. I am also hoping that Grant will take me on the occasional road trip to visit some of your bonsai.

Without passionate people, National collections become pools of nostalgic conservatism of little cultural significance.
We are indeed fortunate to have such passionate and inspired individuals as Grant and Leigh at ours. Congratulations
