Haha, I wouldn't count on that - I still play Zelda on my N64 and that's 12 years old. So in 5 years time I'd bet I'd still be playing the sequel. But yeah, I've been waiting ever since the game first came out for the price to drop and I'm still waiting, so what's another year gonna make, right? (I'm only fooling myself - waiting this long has damn near killed me!)

But I totally get your point. Aside from being an obsessive fangirl with the Zelda thing, the bonsai hobby is an incredibly rewarding one, more so than sitting in front of a telly. I look so forward to seeing where all this has gone in 5 years time. If I know half the stuff most of you guys know I think I'll be lucky.

just thought i would rub it in a bit... i have a wii... and zelda its pretty good, long game though! has a lot of things from the original games ie. weapons, music things etc.

NP i charge a nightly rate of $150, if you want the wii in your room it will cost $175 and if you want the controller it will be an extra $5, nunchuck $5, and games go at different rates..... what sort of stock trees ya have....

Man, at those prices I'd be better off buying one. I couldn't even trade you a night's play for a tree. All I've got is that fig, my jac and a few dozen cuttings in pots in the hope that something takes off but knowing that in my inexperience I've probably screwed them up so they probably won't!

mate i wouldnt charge ya welcome anytime, its good to put faces to names, i think it would be a bit hard being so far apart though

good luck with the cuttings, remember to keep trying them, it took me ages before i got anything to strike, now i am managing to strike stuff up to and bigger than 75mm and i have also seen trunks chopped with a width of 450mm strike roots too!
so it will happen.

Haha, yeah, the Wii may be cheaper than the plane trip. In reality, I have friends here with the game who've offered for me to play, but I'd feel weird about playing it at on someone else's console.

I definitely plan to keep trying with the cuttings. I'm one of those stubborn bums who never gives up even in the face of the impossible haha. My family is forever saying "she never does anything the easy way". So why let something little like cuttings stop me, hey. Until someone comes out and yells at me for pinching a bit of their tree, that is. I almost thought I had new growth on one of my cuttings today, but it must have been there before since I only did it last Sunday. For now, I'm just going to assume that they'll all die so I won't be disappointed if nothing strikes.

Hi Luke, I just checked out your profile and see that you are 25. If I was you I would put that fig in a training pot and spend 5-10 years developing a good size trunk and some branches. Consider it to be good starter material, once you put a tree in a bonsai pot you slow the growth right down and I reckon your fig needs to be grown and developed a lot more

the tree is no longer mine! but thanks craig.. if you read all the posts... jamie brought up ground layering and other people, the growth on the side .... and even further mentioned as an example of Penjing elsewhere..

and these figs can be good for the size they get, its just root work is a problem but easily rectified, i have actually been thinking bout getting a couple more and ground layering them aswell to get the roots sorted out
