Hello,
What do you think this species of tree is? Plant ID app said it was a japanese cedar but I'm not convinced. No idea on the age of the tree either. Dug from a property in Carlton, Melbourne.

I'd tentatively agree with the app.
There are some cryptomeria cultivars that have very similar foliage. Maybe take a look at Conifer Gardens or similar conifer specialist nurseries to see the range of Cryptomeria cultivars available in Australia.https://www.conifer.com.au/our-products ... f-conifers
The emerging cones/flowers look very much like Cryptomeria too.
