Winter update.

Apart from removing a few dead twigs, there has been no work done to this cold sensitive little thing since the comp began, I won't be doing anything until the tree is growing steadily in spring. Although there will be time for a little design head scratching before then.

Maybe a Twin Trunk in there, or perhaps I'll stick to Semi-Cascade?

I was told serissa is a temperamental plant. How does it handle repotting, and large root reduction. I have one in the competition but I have never done root reduction yet.
I ask lots of questions that sound like suggestions. Please remember I am a inquisitive newbie trying to figure out why You made a particular decision, in order to learn.

Hi Neli, the main reason for Serissa being temperamental where I live is the cold, wet climate in winter, they can also suffer in dry windy conditions in summer. I have found that repotting is best done when they are growing strongly, so they can power through any setbacks that may occur. I don't know much about your climate in Zambia, apart from that you are at over 1000m above sea level and are at a similar latitude to Northern Queensland.

Cheers,
Mojo

We dont have winter rain, and not too cold or too hot. Good climate here...just we dont have cold period for some trees...lowest T 6C and that is few night in a year only.
Thanks! How much can the root be reduced %?

I'm not entirely sure how much Serissas can be root reduced in a single session, I haven't had one large enough to have had to reduce the root ball by a large amount.

Cheers,
Mojo

I have decided that this tree is being withdrawn, it has declined a little over winter as Serissas do in my climate and I cannot see this tree being anything remotely convincing by next Sept.

Cheers,
Mojo
