Maleluca Paperbark - Dont know which type

Hi Pup

Probably not worth dragging out this thing of what type pf Maleluca it is!!!! but then again i dont want to look like an idiot to fellow club members telling one thing and it is on fact another but im certain it is not a bracteata only reason i say this is the foliage is very different to each other i will post a macro photo and show the difference but to me the foliage looks like linarilifolia.

This comment leaves me puzzled. I thought you wanted to know what species of Melaleuca it is. If you are so adamant it is what you say why ask

You will note, in your macro pictures the branches and leaves are hairy as in Bracteata, which is a variable plant any way and the bark on yours also fits the description.
Which is not papery

The only thing i am adamant about is that it would not be a bracteata reason i say this is that i have a couple and they vary in many ways, such as the bark texture and foliage, i do want to know what type of Melaluca it is, but maybe the photo is just a bit deceiving with the bark texture. The first Melaluca i posted isn't as well aged as the one you have showen, so im guessing the papery bark hasn't developed yet,

I'm not sure what you mean about the branches in the Macro photos or the leaves are hairy, all i can say is that i see a difference in both structure and colour, again maybe photo is decieving , also not sure what you mean about the bracteata being a variable plant, does this mean that it can have a variation in foliage as in colour im no eggspert by any means and dont profess to be one im only going by what i see in front of me. I dont mean to be discouraging or offend and i think it comes down to the Picture not being clear.

Hey ben,

In the macro photos you have posted the branches and leaves clearly have very fine, white filaments protruding from them. I think this is what pup is referring to as furry/hairy branches. By variable I think he means that because the two trees you have posted dont look exactly alike, doesn't mean they aren't the same species.

I realise now that when you originally posted you weren't really looking for an identification but it would help wouldn't it?

If your not an expert... I think its probably reasonable to take an experts advice when offered.

Having said that... despite stating earlier that I would like a more compressed crown, I still say that I really like the start you have made with this tree. regardless of species type.
