The branch has sat there for ages and always bugged me for obvious reason. It must go, (where is the sword weilding smiley when you need it?)

I vote to keep the "branch" and in the future use it as the new trunk line...a nice shohin in there

I would suggest keeping your options open until you're sure which direction to go. Keep the branch for now as it could be a future trunk line and if you do decide to remove it later it will be thickening the lower trunk in the meantime.

I don't think it will work as a new trunk. The lines don't do it for me. I think I will lop it. Thanks for your input guys
