Re: [360°] Green Five needle pine at the NBPCA
Hi all,
The Green five needle Pine is doing fine after its repot. We had to do a fuller repot than I wanted as the soil was staying too wet and when we did get a lokk at it the roots weren't great.
It is now doing fine and some wire will need to be cut off progressively over the next few months.
It could be on display earlier than I originally thought but it will still in all likelihood be another year or so,
Grant

Hi all,
The wire was just starting to bite so we removed all the wire last week. It has sprung a little of course but we will not rewire it straight away. No hurry with this one and it has already come a long way in a short time. Grant

Re: [360°] Green Five needle pine at the NBPCA
Update for this pine.
It has been in its pot for almost a year now and is doing OK.
We will allow it to grow and gain more vigour over the spring and summer period without any major work.
We will do a candle cut back of the new growth in January and probably do some light refinement wiring then.
The tree had a lot of work done on it last year so this year is a rest and recover year.
It is still probably 18 months to 2 years off show condition yet.

As advised above the Green FNP at the collection is doing very well considering the amount of work that was done on it last year

And now something for all the Dendrochronologists out there.
We removed the copper wire that we strangled the branch with 21 months ago.

Under the microscope it looks like there are a minimum of about 25 growth rings.

Hi all,
We will be starting the next stage of the overhaul of this wonderful tree on Monday 10th June(June long weekend). This coming Monday.
Monday morning will start with photographing the tree in its current shape and then some dramatic changes are going to take place.

Branches wrapped near trunk with rubber, wire with heavy copper wire and then bent/pulled down and secured.
