Login Problems

Post by Andrew Legg »

Hi All,

I am having problems remaining logged in. I load a page in a new window or even when just following a link to another internal thread I seem to be logged out. I then can't view photos etc. I log in again and I lose my place again. Very frustrating :lost:

Cookies are allowed and when I log in I ask the computer to remember me and log me in automatically. This does not seem to happen either.

Is this is problem with the site, or is it just me?

Cheers,

Andrew

Just you atm mate, but I have been getting logged out/password not remembered every second time I turn off the comp, the last week or so. Before I would never have to log in, and re-type my password.
Regards, Mitchell.

Hi,

It does happen to me as well. I searched around, and it appears that this problem has been reported to the forum
developers, but it seems that nobody investigated it any further: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=2103201

I found a work around...

This is where I am on the address bar:

Code: Select all

http://ausbonsai.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=7166&sid=c75f203fc16b5d9686dcb30104cf7076
And I want to go to any of these:

Code: Select all

viewtopic.php?f=104&t=5049&p=58430
viewtopic.php?f=104&t=4985&p=57182
viewtopic.php?f=129&t=4913
viewtopic.php?f=129&t=4907
I could copy the sid to the end of the above -- like this:

Code: Select all

http://ausbonsai.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=5049&p=58430&sid=c75f203fc16b5d9686dcb30104cf7076
http://ausbonsai.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=4985&p=57182&sid=c75f203fc16b5d9686dcb30104cf7076
http://ausbonsai.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=129&t=4913&sid=c75f203fc16b5d9686dcb30104cf7076
http://ausbonsai.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=129&t=4907&sid=c75f203fc16b5d9686dcb30104cf7076
Add a new tab on your CURRENT brower, then copy and paste any of the above onto the address bar.

You will stay logged in, and are able to see the content.

Best regards.

Good morning Ken,

Happy New Year :)

I am using Firefox too -- version 3.6.13. I suspected it has something to do with the browser cookies. I looked at that first. But cannot seem to find anything: Tools | Privacy | Firefox will (Use custom settings for history).

I did not change any of the cookies settings.

Did you have to do anything with your browser Ken? Thanks.

Best regards.

nope I have not had to change anything at all. I use it as it comes out out of the box.

you could "clear recent history' and purge all cookies etc, or the other way would be to delete you mozilla profile and create a fresh one from scratch.

Don't go IE it's so heavy and slow.

Give Opera a go, if you haven't already. Lite on the cpu, great on slow or fast net, easy interface with good quick commands. :)

the terms "I.E." and "improve things" are an oxymoron!
Impossible :-)

on a more serious note, give it try and see if it changes anything.

Looks like both IE7 and Firefox are having the same problem on my PC. I have now installed the latest Opera and will see how it goes. The problem seems to be time related. . . . :fc:

When you have to enter name and password plus click "remember and login", do you also get another prompt from your browser to remember it also?

I believe it is my browser remembering my password. But that's opera, I spent years using IE, then switched to FF for years, then I switched to Opera for ease of use/active mouse gestures. I still have IE and FF on my comp, but never use them. We do all know where FF got mouse gestures don't we? You guys got a speed dial yet?   Sorry. :tu:

Could there be server problems? I am in South Africa, so could it be an international issue?
