hi mate :D

This has a very nice powerful trunk! i would start by trying to work out what you want from the tree, a taller tree, or shorter, what style you want it, wether the style is a full canopy or a layered foliage pad look. if it were mine i would do a couple of sketches, pic which "front" you want (speaking of which have you got anymore pics? a few more will help in determining the "front" and also in your styling options.)

personally from this veiw, I would use the middle trunk, second in from the left as the next stage up of the trunk, this will give you some nice movment to start with and get the taper sorted, then once it has come back from the chopping you will have another option to create the next section of the trunk with a suitable branch. then i would try and develop some foliage pads once the trunk has been built :D

i would be getting this tree going really well before any operations should be taken, which could be as little as 6 months, but 1 year is better, the longer you leave it and get it strong and healthy the more you will have to work with and the tree will bounce back quicker as it will be strong.

thats just my thoughts, i know others with more experience with natives will be able to help more.

Agree, let it be for a while and don't defoliate it. Keep it alive.

OK guys
I won't do anything but try and keep it alive.
Any tips on how to do this?
should I keep it in water
Give it seasol
put in full sun, put in glass house
Sorry to ask so much, but have never tried digging up a native and really don't want to kill it...

Thanks for all the help Nora

Yep, seasol and ST. Not too dry and not too wet. No excess sunlight (partial shade) and cross your fingers :)
Always we hope someone else has the answer.

what DK said and more. i wouldnt be submerging the whole thing in water, but a small tray of water would be fine, maybe 2 inches deep, most natives love water, I would keep it in full shade until it starts looking like it is ready to shoot, then i would move to partial shade, then eventually to full sun, this has a very nice trunk so it would be a shame to lose it. superthrive will definately help, the same with seasol.

good luck :D keep us updated :D
