How far can I cut Mel.Incana ?

Post by joannm »

Put this guy back in a pot 4 years ago to grow. I have never really given it a massive hair cut, but it needs it badly.
So, how far can I cut back?
Think Pup maybe the one who can help me here . :fc:

[]Hi I was waiting for some one else to reply, as I seem to attract some unwanted comments when I answer a post  . But here are some before and after pruning shots of one of my Melaleuca incanas.
If you are going to wire the branches be careful as older wood is brittle, I have found using 1 size above what you would normally helps lessen the breakage.

Thanks for advice everyone. :D
Your tree is beautiful Pup. But I was well aware it was prior :worship:

I found this tree in a little old nursery in Tassie over 4 years ago but, the nursery is closed down now.
The lady told me it was one her husband was growing up ,however he had passed away some 20 years prior. So it was forgotten and well out of site
It was very very pot bound , but miracles do happen .

I have a few smaller ones that I cut back and they have back budded slightly, but I was not going to try it on this one.

All I have to do know is make an interesting pot for it .
