Leptospermum Repotting

Hi, this is my first post. Looks like a great website.

I recently got a Leptospermum shrub, and it's just in a nursery pot. I'm itching to repot it into something smaller and uncover some of the trunk. From the bit of research I've done on tea trees it sounds like they hate to be repotted and having their roots reduced. Has anyone got any advice with this from your experiences ? I recently shortened it's branches. It has one small flower at the moment, and quite a few buds.

Do you know which Leptospermum you have?

Now would be a good time to think about doing a repot.

NEVER BARE ROOT
Reduce the pot size over time, say going half depth in stage one then next time a bit shallower. Many are showing they will bud on old wood, some wont.

Pics and details of which Leptospermum you have will help to be more specific.

The only one I had carked it after a repot, I suspect too much taken off at the time

Thanks for the advice, that's great.

I am away from home so I'm not entirely sure of the species. It says something like miniature Leptospermum, if memory serves me correctly. The flowers are a pale pink coulour, if that helps.

Anyway, that's helpful. For the time being I might just replant it so the trunk base is up level with the lip of the pot rather than buried half way down, and I won't worry about reducing the root ball for the time being.
