Eucalyptus olida 1 - Strawberry Gum

This Euc is fascinating. The new leaves look like strawberries, hence the common name: Strawberry Gum.
As the leaves age, it sometimes retains the red edging around the leaf. Absolutely gorgeous. I adore this specimen too.

It was purchased from Glendale Native Nursery in Newcastle.

I have 2 of these in the ground, not for bonsai though. Did you know that the leaves have a berry like flavour and aroma and can be used in cooking, much like you would use a bay leaf? That's why I have mine growing. They look like they would take to life in a pot quite well though.

Cheers,
Dave.
