Hibbertia Teaser..

Post by Amanda »

This little beauty was gifted to me by MattA a couple of months ago :D a collected specimen and vigorous grower. I've been watching the swelling and eagerly awaiting bud burst for quite a while now, and what a wait it's been! The flashy colour is amazing. :D

Hey Anja,

Its looking fantastic & soo many buds. Glad to see your wait is almost over, its amazing how long they take from appearing to open.

You will be amazed when you see the size of the bloom, totally out of synch with the minute foliage. I dont have any flowering this year :( several nice large & small clumps that were collected earlier in the year & to conserve energy & ensure they put it into foliage & root growth the flowers have been sacrificed.

Hope you post another pic when all those buds are open & its a blaze of yellow.

Matt

Matt, the Hibbertia is an absolute treasure to care for. The buds are still popping up all over, didn't quite expect so many to appear :)
I have searched the local bushland but haven't been lucky enough to find any. Your neighbouring region is blessed to be growing them.

The powers that be.

There are several species flowering in the bush down the road from me right now. Vines, big shrubs, small shrubs, groundcovers...... they are all nice! There are plenty of cool looking orchids, Eriostemon, Epacris, Woolsia, Boronia, waratahs and pultenea too. Plenty of beautiful stuff is flowering at the moment. Good time for a bushwalk!

Please keep us updated with photos Anja! Im keen to see this ones flowers.
