Hi to all the pot nerds here

Hoping to find out whose pot chop this is. I found this pot in a temple market in Tokyo a few weeks back so wondering if it’s of any significance. It cost me about $2. Hahahaha.

Cheers.

That is a Marufuji pot from the surrounding area of the famous pottery town of Seto east of Nagoya. These were mass production pots of which they made many kinds. Peak production was during the 1980's as far as I know. I have a few Marifuji pots myself. Many of them were quite good quality for a production pot. Marufuji was well known for stencil painted picture pots. They also sometimes go by the name of Martou.

Thanks so much akamatsu. Great info. I wish I’d known there was a plot district near Nagoya when we were there.

Thanks again
