Opening of 'Bonsai World' on the central coast
Hi all
id just like to notify you of the opening of a new bonsai nursery, Bonsai World in Jilliby on the central coast.
Owner, Ashley, initially got me off and running in bonsai when he used to run another nursery. This is where I initially started bonsai, its great to see him back up and running again.
The nurser is open only on weekends for now.
check out the flyer for all the details!

Re: Opening of 'Bonsai World' on the central coast
I had the pleasure of visiting this nursery this weekend and all I can say is I've never seen so much luscious green growth on so many plants at such low prices. My tiny balcony (and girlfriend) is grateful that payday is next weekend so all I got was a Japanese Black Pine.
In my excited state I neglected to look at everything, so I'll be going up again next weekend.
I will be sure to take photos and upload them after my next visit.

Re: Opening of 'Bonsai World' on the central coast
I made my first visit out there to see his nursery today. Ashley has got some nice stuff at reasonable prices. It was nice to see he is dabbling with a few natives too.
Unfortunately I have sworn not to increase my current stock number, so I will have to part with some I already own if I decide to purchase anything in future.
I guess the main advantage is, that when a friend comes over to your house and sees your trees and they sheepishly ask for one of yours, you no longer have to drive to Dural/Terrey Hills/Caringbah to find stock and pot it up for your friend, because you aren't giving your own away. Hmph...Its like going into someones house and saying.... "wow, I love your chihuahuas, do you think I could have one, because you've got quite a few"...anyway, getting off topic. ...oh, and a random ps... never part with a chihuahau, they become bonded to you more than a child, because they see themselves as your mate.
He has a wide range of Allocasuarina Littoralis, Leptospermum Petersonii, Shimpaku, JBP, Crabapples, Swampies, Chinese Elms, PJ Figs and many others. Most of the starter stock starts at about $12 for good sized stock. You'd get Swampies with thicker bases at Ray's for $12, but the thickness of most of his other ranges for $12 makes it worth a visit.

I style Bonsai naturally, just as they would appear in the wild.

Went out there on Saturday ,bit out of the way but well worth the visit, good prices and plenty of good quality stock, Ashley and his mate are very friendly(cannot remember his name)and has got plenty of time to answer all the questions.
Great to see another nursery opening up and it will be awesome when fully operational.

Thanks Jarad
Yes they deserve a plug, just hope Ashley can hang in there as it is bloody hard running a business these days,he told me he was driving a truck during the week to subsidize the business.

I hope he hangs in there too, sure is a lot easier to go from Gosford to Jilliby than to Sydney. Not to mention the tonne of stock he has.
While we are on the subject, I haven't been there and bought something for over 2 weeks, there must be something wrong with me...
