Thanks Jake, I’m happy with the structure I have set with this, now time to develop the finer ramification and round out the apex... at least that is my plan.

Thanks for posting these updates, apart from being able to look on in appreciation of your skill in developing these trees, it’s wonderful to be able to look back on the steps to create them. That little broom style one is just superb.

Nice little broom developing . I have two shohin both from airlayersRyceman3 wrote: ↑July 16th, 2019, 2:22 pm And just to keep this progression up to date - I repotted the "bonus" trunk today. I noticed it was already budding out, as are a number of my Chinese Elms ... very early (usually I make it til August). Anyway, I thought I'd better get on with it.

Cheers Matthew, I have seen your air layers in posts from years gone by ... hopefully I can get mine to that kind of level some day, thanks for the encouragement.

It’s been a few years since I’ve posted progression shots in this thread, time to remedy that… a few pics of both trees after their repots in the last week or so.

Hey R3, more wonderful progressions! Watching your passion for learning and the development your skills over the years - I think you are becoming one of the leading proponents of the art in the big island of ours. Excellent stuff, keep up the great work.

Re: [Ryceman3] Ulmus Parvifolia #1
Thanks Per PF, MJL and Watto for the feedback and kind words, much appreciated.
Ha!! Many thanks MJL but let's not get too crazy!! The more I seem to learn when it comes to bonsai, the more I see there is still to learn ... I doubt there will be an end to that which is good, always learning ... always evolving. There are plenty of great people doing some pretty extraordinary things in bonsai here, I'm just happy to be a part of it but I do appreciate your sentiment so thankyou!

Bulk repotting started today at my place. Deciduous first up as usual ... these two were at the top of the pile.

Looking great mate, like you i enjoy to make small changes to viewing angles or pots at repotting time to give it a fresh look and maybe catch your eye a bit more again on the benches
I always get a bit caught out by repotting season, in my head it's at least another month away, but then i look at my trees and see some are moving faster than others and i have to start pulling my finger out.
