Up date today
Slowly getting there. This variety of ficus is not very rapid putting on new growth and Raqmifying.
I reckon it might have filled in by the 2033 Shohin comp

Is it just me or is the right hand branch just that bit too thick and long to be convincing?
Great progression otherwise!

Quite possibly. The next repot I am intending on lowering it so it is more like an old fig with hanging branches which will make it look better i think
Thanks Buddyman

Hopefully I can get a better final Pic tomorrow as today has been horrible condition to do our trees justice.
This one is still very slow and one day will hopefully fill out above the right hand branch
Development will continue in the same vein, but potting angle will most likely change, or the right hand branch will be wired down.

Another year on and slowly getting there.
I should have looked back to the thread before repotting, as I was going to tilt more the the right this time
Ahh well next year maybe

1st Post in this thread for this trre which still going on.
It is very slow to fill out and ramify, but eventually it will happen.
Took him to School tonight to look at and think I have an issue to fix. The current apex is about 270mm high which means I am over the max height for Shohin, and will need to address that before the end of the comp.
Cleaned up the wild foliage to have a look at what I have under there.
I would like to lift the tree a little to show some of the nebari off, but that exacerbate the problem.
I could possibly lop the top off but as it sloooooowww to grow, that is not appealing
Possibility to fix is to tilt more but not sure if that will solve it,
or layer it a little higher up the trunk
pick another front to allow a different apex and thus reduce to top
Chop the top!
Some thinking and hard decision to be made, but as we are coming into winter, I have a few months to decide

I still have not decided but suspect a layer might be in the trees future to lower it slightly. will wait a few weeks then see
an updated photo today after a trim up of the daggy winter leaves and knocked back lots of new shoots ( no such thing as winter for ficus in my yard
). They just slow down but not stop.

Well it got a repot so I can look at the base and have lowered it a litlle in the pot and tilted , and wired to get a little less height as well
Currently sits at 235mm to top of the tallest foliage and cha take a littl off the top so I think will all be good.
I want the upper right branch to extend and about 1/2 as much again as is then it can all fill out
