Starting to grow well now spring is here

Sorry Neli, only just saw the question, No they do not have to be in Bonsai pots during the comp, but should be by the final photos when the comp ends

Filling out nicely but waiting for the lowest branch to put on growth is like watching ice freeze. It will happen just not quickly!

At some time recently I had decided to use the reverse side of the tree as the front.
I assume that it must have developed a better branch there which made more sense.

Apart from that filling in well.

Final photos are in now unless i can get some better ones tomorrow. I have been struggling with horrible wind and light today and may have better luck in the morning. :fc:
if not then these will have to do :palm:

Happy with developments over the comp with this tree, and in future the upper right hand branch will develop and fill out the void between the right hand branches.

Job well done!
I am surpised you did not get too much growth...My pyracantha has gone crazy...like 1cm in a day growth...But that is what they do when you want them to grow slower....he he he!

to kick off the comp, I took a couple of trees to School tonight to start the refining process on :-)
Yep for the Refine comp you can continue to work on them as you hopefully have been doing.

My Pyracantha seems to have curly leaves which looks like thrips so will get dose of Confidor tomorrow. In the meantime it got a trim back and general going over and I am happy how this has developed and filled in since the end of last comp.
It will need repotting as it well an truly pot bound

The tree is in Maintenance mode now and just needs more ramification and leaf reduction, but will not change much more in the coming years. The back needs to fill out a little more

Hi Ken,

Great job kicking it off, I'll definitely be getting involved in the create section. Do you have any lined up yourself?

Just wondering if you may be able to share a close up of the thrip affected leaves? As I think I may have the same issue on a couple of my own, but didn't know the cause until possibly now.

Cheers,
Pearcy.

Nothing hard and fast as yet for the create, but I do have one azalea I repotted tonight to check its lower trunk and roots, and that I think will be a starter.
I will go and see Ray maybe next week and see what he has got..

I will take some close ups tomorrow for you

Actually I thought that myself this morning :-) Brain fade :palm:
I sprayed with Confidor this morning and see if that fixes it :-0

Thanks to a liberal spray of Confidor, the aphids are gone and so is the dodgy foliage.
It was such a nice day here today I got out to do some work to my comp trees and this one got a trim and shape up again.
Lots of new growth on this one so needs to be kept under control
