Reduced its height a bit.

So a quick up date. I reduced the root ball and repotted this one into a 'pond pot' 5 days ago . Starting to leaf out now so today I gave it a sno bath .

This tree has been growing strongly . I selected some branches and will let it grow .

A bit of an update . The tree grew well over summer . I pruned it right back a couple of weeks ago to start some sort of ramification before it drops it's leaves for winter . It has been growing on one of my gravel beds and it's roots are well and truly into the gravel . I'll let let it go until leaf drop or untill things start to freeze which ever comes first .

Put this tree in the glass house a couple of months ago when it went dormant . Even though it would have no trouble surviving outside . Hoping to conserve its energy so it bolts in the spring .

Decided to push this tree on a bit after I realized the comp finished at the beginning of October instead of the end of the October . . So I repotted it a few days ago and I will grow it indoors for the rest of the comp . Today it started to send out new growth . The pot is a Pat Kennedy pot .

Took this photo on the 12th September , it's interesting to see the difference in the new spring growth compared to the same time last year . Bringing it inside really pushed it along . It's back outside now ,I have to harden it off with some night protection . Last night was -6 and it's supposed to do the same tonight .
I was going to use this as my final photo but since I took this photo the leaves have turned a beautiful bronze color .

The diablo is a very quick growing plant , not sure if it is really suited to keeping it this small and the leaf size could be a problem . The color of the leaves have gone an even more bronzie purple color since I took this photo but the leaf got larger as well so I decided to go with this image taken a week ago . This year I will try to reduce the leaf . The bark is really what makes this interesting and the common name of nine bark is appropriate . Thanks to Steven and Co for running the comp .
