Post by Daluke »

Dwarf asiatic jasmine, trachelospermum asiaticum var chirimen… are these around?

Let me know if you’ve seen them in Australia or have any available!

Post pics too.

Yes around but rare. I had one but lost it due to a watering / brain malfunction. Pretty sure they came into Melbourne from Japan in the 1990's when importing was much easier and a lot of the imported trees you see around were brought in.

Ray Nesci had some earlier this year, not sure where your located or if the nursery would post.

Despite being a dwarf it grows almost as fast as normal asiaticum and thickens just as slowly. If you have the skills and can find a large trunk it can be grafted onto the species without issue

There's also a tiny dwarf Murraya worth growing. I don't think it's rare.

Yep, Mini Murraya is one of the marketed names. Not rare, I picked one up at Bunno’s a little while ago as a first bonsai for my son.

Their leaves are tiny, so make for a good mini sized bonsai.
