Saw this seller on Facebook - some people here may be interested. Allegedly a Miwaka variant, although I doubt that those characteristics would be guaranteed when growing seeds from a parent tree with the variant.

I take no responsibility beyond passing this on!

I think I saw these same seeds for sale on ebay. I'm tempted but I've had a bad experience trying to buy seeds on ebay before.

Just pulled the trigger on these, price seems quite steep to me but hopefully I get a good success rate. I've wanted to get some JBP seeds to potentially grow over the next 30-40 years like they do Japan

I’ve got a mate who works for Dept Environment and he always advises to stay away from imported seeds, especially from on line sellers.
They can bring in exotic diseases and pests which can cause big problems, and the seeds may not be what you think they are either.
It seems a big risk. Probably better off buying tube stock and planting it yourself

All pine seeds are prohibited imports unless they come with a phytosanitary certificate. As mentioned above these restrictions are designed to reduce chances of us getting more exotic pests and diseases that could harm the agroforestry industry.
If these seeds are coming from overseas Border Security is likely confiscate them and put the buyer on a watch list if they find them.

Just out of interest, how much is the seller asking? I can't access the FB site link.

I work with biosecurity plant material coming in legally from overseas and its a royal PITA, but necessary to keep pests and diseases we definitely do not want here at bay.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/13406261195 ... %7Ciid%3A1 here is an ebay listing of I presume the same batch, coming from NSW

Great points about biosecurity importance.

I had assumed the vendor would be selling legal seeds, given they operate from NSW, but there’s nothing online to support that assumption; on the contrary, the eBay ad says, ‘Original from Japan.’ Probably one to avoid, in retrospect!
