Re: Trident Maple Forest [Ryceman3]
Very important to let light in - my tridents and English elm forests will get 3 full cuts in the growing season - not total defoliation but decent trims - the first will occur this weekend, they are rampant and … I’ll also cut as needed in between too. Great species for the clip and grow method, I reckon.

Looking the goods. How many have you got in there and what dimensions is the pot? Sorry if you've already mentioned, didn't see it though. Cheers

The pot is oval ... 450mm wide x 340mm deep (approx)
I think there are 31 trees in total ... 20 on the left mound and 11 on the right.

Re: Trident Maple Forest [Ryceman3]
This forest got a second trim for the season today.
I'm trying to create levels/layers in the canopy to add a bit of interest rather than one "cloud" over the trunks below. I think things are developing pretty reasonably.
You can see from the "after" image how important it is to trim and allow light/air into the centre of the composition. Without that, all the foliage in there would weaken and die as the trees favoured areas that are higher and exposed.
Nice to work on a few maples for a change!
