Another Taxodium

Hi,

This tree was given to me by a club member. It was sitting in a black pot under a tree . The main roots were buried and the owner aplogized for braking off a main root some weeks before.

In 2006 I exposed the roots and then desided on a design . I started with removing an ugly root which led to some carving as seen on pic 1. The carving was to go further as you can see by the lines on the trunk but desided against it.

The crown was a problem so I desided to run a hole from the crown through to the newly carved area. When this was done I damaged the cambium down one side.

From the new leader I used a branch to cascade and fill this area.

Hieght 90cm

root base 28cm

Pot size 50x35cm

Love the tree Peter but the RH lower baranch just has to go in my mind - sorry

my first thoughtswere the same, my eye stopped at the "bar branch". and although it's not a direct bar branch, but it interrupted my eye as i was following the line of the tree...

Yes Jon you are right about the RH lower branch.

It is one of the areas I have not liked but have waited
for more development.

Its good to have other sets of eyes that are less attached to the tree.

Everything but the bar branch and it's a great tree. Taxodiums are fast developers and throw out heaps of shoots so you should be able to get a better placed replacement... ignoring the fact that Murphy's Law will dictate the area will be the only part that won't shoot. But keep working, as I am sure you well
